About The Position

These are entry level, non-skilled, general labor positions responsible for the successful training and completion of an 8-WEEK QUALIFICATION PERIOD for various job roles while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Upon successful completion of the training program, the team member will be transferred into a VACANT position on the CONE LINES. Successful transfer is dependent upon there being a vacancy on the CONE LINES. If there are no vacancies, then the team member will be transferred into another position within the Plant that will not be considered a CONE LINE position and therefore ineligible for the incentive pay. All Tyson Team Members are responsible for safety, including personal and food safety. Certain roles at Tyson require background checks. Hourly applicants must complete a task after submitting their application to be considered for employment. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
  • Holiday work may be required at times.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including pushing, pulling, carrying, or lifting 50+ pounds.
  • Jobs are fast paced and require repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to work in damp cold or damp hot environments.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to stand 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment: ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard, wraps and/or aprons, cut gloves and arm guards.
  • Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Must keep work area clean.
  • Must be able to use a knife/scissors.
  • Must be able to maintain line speed.
  • Must be able to do minimal stooping and bending.
  • Must meet all job requirements within a trial/qualification period of 6-8 weeks.

Nice To Haves

  • Rehires are subject to a 91-day wait period, determined from their last date of employment.
  • Candidates that have worked for Tyson Foods or Tyson affiliates 3 or more times will not be eligible for rehire.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Feeder: Place product onto the conveyor belt feeding it into a machine, ensuring correct positioning. Test machinery periodically and keep records of machine testing/failures.
  • Wing Cutter: Remove wings from the breast frame, grading off bad wings and placing good wings on the conveyor belt.
  • Breast Trimmer: Trim boneless breast fillets by removing bones, skin, and cartilage, and placing the fillet back onto the conveyor.
  • Breast Puller: Manually remove breast meat from the frame, using a knife to cut flank meat. Inspect the butterfly and frame, trimming bones or placing fillets for further inspection if necessary.
  • Shoulder Cutter: Cut the front half at the shoulder joint to standard, ensuring clean pulley and scapula bones with eye meat removed. Pull the shoulder to the appropriate length for the wing cut.
  • Utility Labor: Maintain product flow, ensure a sufficient supply of area supplies, and fill in for various line positions/tasks as needed.
  • Tender Scorer/Puller: Cut the breast tenderloin away from the breast shell without cutting into the tender and remove any bones found in/on the tenderloin.
  • Cone Stabber: Place front halves on debone cones, ensuring correct placement without missing, dropping, damaging ribs, or splitting keel bones.
  • Backup Labor: Trained to perform all positions on the debone cone line at standard line speed.
  • Perform other duties as tasked by administration.
  • Observe all of Tyson's policies and procedures.
  • Meet all job requirements within a training/qualification period of 6-8 weeks.
