About The Position

These are entry level, non-skilled, general labor positions responsible for the successful training and completion of an 8-WEEK QUALIFICATION PERIOD for various job roles on the CONE LINES while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Upon successful completion of the training program, the team member will be transferred into a vacant position on the CONE LINES. Successful transfer is dependent upon there being a vacancy. If there are no vacancies, the team member will be transferred into another position within the Plant that will not be considered a CONE LINE position and therefore ineligible for incentive pay. The pay is $17.10 per hour. The 1st Shift Schedule is approximately 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, but shift times and days may vary depending on Production needs. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to work in damp cold or damp hot environments.
  • Ability to use hands and arms above shoulder level.
  • Ability to stand 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment: ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard, wraps and/or aprons, cut gloves and arm guards.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use a knife/scissors.
  • Ability to maintain line speed.
  • Ability to do minimal stooping and bending.
  • Must meet all job requirements within a training/qualification period of 6-8 weeks.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Place product onto the conveyor belt feeding it into a machine, ensuring correct positioning.
  • Test machinery periodically to ensure proper function and keep records of machine testing/failures.
  • Remove wings from the breast frame, grading off bad wings and placing good wings on the conveyor belt.
  • Trim boneless breast fillets by removing bones, skin, and cartilage.
  • Manually remove breast meat from the frame, cut flank meat, and place the butterfly onto the breast collection conveyor.
  • Inspect the butterfly and frame, trimming bones or placing filets for further inspection if necessary.
  • Cut the front half at the shoulder joint to standard, ensuring clean pulley bones and scapula bones with eye meat removed.
  • Pull the shoulder to the appropriate length for the wing cut.
  • Maintain flow of product and keep a sufficient supply of supplies for the area.
  • Fill in for various line positions/tasks as needed on a daily/hourly basis.
  • Cut the breast tenderloin away from the breast shell without cutting into the tender and remove any bones.
  • Place front halves on debone cones, ensuring correct placement without missing, dropping, damaging ribs, or splitting keel bones.
  • Perform all positions on the debone cone line to standard at line speed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Perform other duties as tasked by administration.
  • Be safe and observe all of Tyson's policies and procedures.
