About The Position

This full-time Food Production - General Labor PR01 role is a Patty Link Packer position at Tyson’s Hickman Rd Plant in Union City, Tennessee. Packers complete the final packaging of sausage patties and links from work in progress. They visually inspect products for defects, check product weights against specifications, and palletize finished packages according to specifications.

The role also involves maintaining a clean work area, following standard operating procedures and job safety analyses, supporting safety awareness, and helping train new team members. The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to meet the stated physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work takes place in a manufacturing environment and requires specified personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Manual dexterity required for performing the job.
• Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness and ability to pack finished cases onto pallets in the proper tie and high configuration.
• Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Use required safety equipment, including steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net if applicable, and smock.
• Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.

Responsibilities

• Know product codes and descriptions, including case-pack configurations.
• Visually inspect packages for defects in size or quality and remove defective products from the line.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy during production.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Act as a key trainer for on-the-job training of new team members.
• Maintain and promote team-member interest in safety.
• Support supervisors and leads with safety awareness, including reporting observed unsafe practices.
• Promote a culture of respect for all team members and notify the plant manager of conduct that violates this culture or company policies.
• Check product weight for conformance with product specifications.
• Palletize finished packaged product according to specifications.
• At the end of the shift, wipe down machines and cover motors with protective plastic.
