About The Position

Heroux-Devtek is an international leader in aviation and the world's 3rd largest producer of landing gear, serving civil and military aerospace markets. The company has production facilities in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Heroux-Devtek is known for its longevity, flexibility, and track record in developing and implementing innovative production systems. The Strongsville facility, with over 90 employees and spanning 100,000 sq. ft., is a center of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear. This role is part of the Central Division and will support critical machining operations for major commercial aircraft programs like the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, as well as military programs such as the F-18, F-35, C-17, and C-130. The company focuses on advanced manufacturing processes, including machining automation and techniques, to maintain its position as a top-value producer of complex landing gear components.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal in the English language
  • Ability to interact with peers in a positive, professional and productive manner
  • Able to read blueprints that identify and explain the function of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Proven problem solving skills and experience/exposure to lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to use hand and machine tools.
  • Must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.

Responsibilities

  • Operating an Overhead Crane and Forklift to move or organize items in the plant
  • Support maintenance and machinists with oiling parts, cleaning, light maintenance to machinery
  • Load aircraft parts on metal and wooden skids for shipment
  • Place parts on Y-Carts and move to next location
  • Able to read Router operations to establish next location to move the part
  • Able to assist maintenance, shipping, plant supervisors, and EH&S as required
  • Vacuum Grit from Grit Room for outside shipments
  • Empty chemical containers and properly place them in designated areas
  • Label parts for quick identification
  • Replenish fasteners and plating items in designated metal bins
  • Assist in 5S and Continuous Improvement Projects
