About The Position
This role involves assisting with various aspects of site preparation, grading, excavation, and utility installation on outdoor construction sites. The position requires the ability to perform strenuous physical labor, operate tools and equipment, and adhere to safety protocols in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include hand digging, trenching, backfilling, compaction, erosion control, material transport, pipe and utility work, grade checking, site cleanup, and traffic direction. Maintaining a safe and organized work area is crucial, along with reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues.
Requirements
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction, grading, excavation, or sitework experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, and utility installation activities.
- Perform hand digging, trenching, backfilling, and compaction work as directed.
- Install and maintain erosion control measures.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with pipe installation, drainage structures, and underground utility work.
- Perform grade checking, stake placement, and site cleanup activities.
- Direct traffic and equipment movement when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment issues to supervision immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
