The Division of Digestive Disease at the University of South Florida is seeking a General Gastroenterologist to support growth across the Tampa Bay region, expand access to digestive health services, and strengthen the division’s clinical, educational, and academic missions. The physician will help meet increasing patient demand and support the division’s long-term strategic growth initiatives. The service has a high-volume clinical practice and a large regional referral network, offering the incoming physician an opportunity to establish a busy practice shortly after joining. A typical clinical schedule may include three to four days of outpatient gastroenterology clinics, one to two days of endoscopy procedures, and inpatient consultation coverage as assigned. The role includes participation in divisional conferences and multidisciplinary care meetings, with protected time for academic, teaching, research, or quality-improvement activities. Scheduling may be tailored to faculty interests and divisional needs. Administrative protected time is tied to specific leadership responsibilities and may be removed, with a corresponding increase in clinical patient-care assignments, if those responsibilities end. Call responsibilities are shared among division faculty and generally include inpatient gastroenterology consultations, hospital-based consultative services, urgent endoscopy procedures, and participation in a collegial and equitable call schedule. Call frequency and specific responsibilities will be discussed during recruitment. The position is responsible to a chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a state university and includes teaching, research, service, related administrative activities, academic advising, and potentially representing the university, college or school, or department. The physician will teach residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
