About The Position

Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a General Dentist to join their team. This is a part-time position within the Dental Department, located at their 1021 Broadway facility. The role offers significant flexibility in work hours, aligning with the operational hours of the center. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Program
  • Possession of licensure to practice as a dentist in the state of New York

  • 2+ years of experience at a dental practice
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to make mature decisions autonomously and with input from others

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on patient care for all visits in schedule, including examinations during hygiene visits
  • Examine, review and consult patients’ medical records for evaluation, diagnostic and treatment decisions
  • Check teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests, to diagnose dental problems
  • Advise patients regarding the best course of treatment and provide a customized exam and plan for every patient
  • Prepare patients for treatment, including sedation or anesthetic application
  • Perform surgical procedures on the teeth, bone and soft tissues of the oral cavity, such as tooth extractions and root canal procedures
  • Identify tooth decay and replace cavities with fillings
  • Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and dentures
  • Apply teeth-whitening treatments
  • Prescribe medication as needed
  • Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use
  • Promote good oral health and preventive dental care
  • Refer patients for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols.
  • Ability to maximize revenue while decreasing costs for the dental practice and organization
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including but not limited to delegating, sound decision making, empowering others and collaborating with leadership on strategic goals.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and utilize continued education credits in a manner consistent with organizational expectations
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • Maintains current certifications including all mandatory annual and CPR training
