Requirements

Canadian qualified lawyer of 7+/- years PQE.
Experience of working in an in-house legal team.
Proactive, organisational skills, detail-orientated with good communication skills and a keen and “can do” attitude.
Ability to work in a team oriented, practical environment.
Can manage a variety of assigned projects.
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
A self-motivated and hard worker who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Acting as trusted advisor to business colleagues and leaders.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts: confidentiality agreements, commercial contracts, intellectual property agreements, government contracts, public procurement bids, supplier agreements, consumer disclosures and marketing materials.
Maintaining and updating template documents.
Undertaking varied corporate work such as preparing board minutes, maintaining corporate registers and preparing filings.
Working on a diverse range of legal areas such as corporate, commercial, marketing and product.
Managing commercial disputes and litigation matters, managing external counsel and legal budgets.
Supporting product development initiatives with actionable and clear legal advice.
Identifying regulations applicable to the operations of PayByPhone Group, develop and manage compliance programs where required; areas of compliance include privacy, consumer protection, anti-money laundering and payment licensing.
Developing PayByPhone Legal team’s knowledge management resources, recordkeeping systems and processes for managing agreements.
