Requirements

  • Canadian qualified lawyer of 7+/- years PQE.
  • Experience of working in an in-house legal team.
  • Proactive, organisational skills, detail-orientated with good communication skills and a keen and “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented, practical environment.
  • Can manage a variety of assigned projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • A self-motivated and hard worker who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as trusted advisor to business colleagues and leaders.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts: confidentiality agreements, commercial contracts, intellectual property agreements, government contracts, public procurement bids, supplier agreements, consumer disclosures and marketing materials.
  • Maintaining and updating template documents.
  • Undertaking varied corporate work such as preparing board minutes, maintaining corporate registers and preparing filings.
  • Working on a diverse range of legal areas such as corporate, commercial, marketing and product.
  • Managing commercial disputes and litigation matters, managing external counsel and legal budgets.
  • Supporting product development initiatives with actionable and clear legal advice.
  • Identifying regulations applicable to the operations of PayByPhone Group, develop and manage compliance programs where required; areas of compliance include privacy, consumer protection, anti-money laundering and payment licensing.
  • Developing PayByPhone Legal team’s knowledge management resources, recordkeeping systems and processes for managing agreements.
