About The Position

The General Clerk performs all clerical tasks in the school office as assigned and maintains accurate records of school accounts. This role involves interacting with the public, managing communications, preparing reports, and registering new students. The position requires the ability to work independently and maintain accurate records in a climate-controlled office setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate records.
  • Passing score on typing test of at least thirty (30) wpm with no more than three (3) errors.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess essential function of a general clerk.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all clerical tasks in the school office as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records of school accounts.
  • Meet and interact with the public independently.
  • Answer incoming calls over the telephone and intercom/P.A. system.
  • Type and reproduce forms and other necessary information.
  • Administer minor first aid as required.
  • Prepare required information for support personnel on students.
  • Assist staff members, answer routine questions, and handle correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports.
  • Maintain records accurately and neatly.
  • Receive and verify all incoming shipments of merchandise.
  • Maintain a file on students' insurance and file accident/incident report claims.
  • Provide own transportation for work-related responsibilities.
  • Register new students, prepare computer master sheets, enter student data into the school computer, type schedules, and make bus assignments.
  • Prepare required forms for student withdrawals.
  • Receive tardy students, issue passes, and call home when applicable.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and handle outgoing correspondence.
  • Provide information and answer complaints relating to the school; refer callers to the proper person or arrange for an appointment with the principal.
  • Act as a receptionist in the school office.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the principal.
