About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height using a germicidal solution, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using the proper solution.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, following a specific order: above and below the sink, toilet seat, outside of the toilet bowl, and inside of the toilet bowl with a Johnnie Mop.
Clean and check soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily, refilling as needed.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and wiping down cans if liquid is present.
Perform floor dusting or vacuuming using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, working from the back of the room towards the door, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Clean outside areas multiple times a day, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters inside and out, and performing high dusting of window areas at least twice a week.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions or referring them to someone who can assist.
Report anything broken or out of order to the supervisor.
Work quietly and speak quietly, reducing or eliminating noise.
Stay within the assigned work area unless requested otherwise by the supervisor.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
