About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating powered and non-powered equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs., pushing/pulling with 5-35 lbs force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, overhead reaching, and having adequate sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction (e.g., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges).
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height (e.g., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trashcans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Wipe down sinks, toilets (inside and out), and check/refill soap and paper dispensers.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, wipe cans if liquid is present, and place clean liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms, using appropriate techniques.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, check for cobwebs and debris in corners and edges.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove and clean dirty trays, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement, making corrections as needed.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Knock before entering occupied rooms, be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously or refer to a supervisor, report broken items, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, maintain a clean appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager (this could include, but is not limited to, floor care – stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
