About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business that provides customized cleaning services to facilities including offices, banks, schools, industrial and medical facilities, and department stores. The General Cleaner performs a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings and facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, along with other duties related to the assignment. Duties include high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces; cleaning bathrooms and replenishing dispensers; emptying and cleaning trash cans; dust mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing floors; and maintaining grounds, public common areas, and food court spaces. The cleaner inspects completed work, corrects issues as needed, and provides courteous service to customers. Other assigned duties may include floor care, such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of how to use toxic and non-toxic chemicals according to their MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed for assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and trash weighing 1–30 pounds; and pushing or pulling with both hands and arms using 5–35 pounds of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend, twist, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and use hands and fingers while cleaning and operating equipment or tools.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and maintain safety when using equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily as needed.
Empty trash cans, clean them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum rooms, including under furniture, and dispose of dust appropriately.
Clean and inspect outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, and public-area glass.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters; and check window areas for cobwebs and debris.
Clean food court tables, sanitize surfaces, return chairs to their places, empty trash, clean and stack trays, and police outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors, including under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, and correct issues such as misplaced furniture.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; spot-clean walls and perform high dusting daily.
Knock before entering occupied rooms, interact courteously with customers, and refer questions when appropriate.
Report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor; work quietly and remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance and report incomplete assignments to a supervisor before the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
