About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for the performance of assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, neck.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger.
Ability to perform overhead reaching.
Adequate sight for cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height (lights, curtain tips, vents, ledges).
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, countertops, trash cans) using a germicidal solution.
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets (using a Johnnie Mop and germicidal solution), and checking/refilling soap and paper dispensers.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dust or vacuum floors using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, high dusting window areas, and checking corners and edges for debris.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying trash cans, and cleaning dirty trays.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting.
Maintain positive customer relations by being friendly, courteous, and helpful, answering questions, and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
Work quietly and stay within the assigned work area.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
