About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, overhead reaching, and good sight with depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height such as lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, removing fingerprints and smudges from surfaces like ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and walls.
Clean bathrooms thoroughly, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
Empty trash cans, clean them if necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and performing high dusting of window areas.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, spot clean spills, and clean trash cans.
Clean and sanitize trays using a tray power washer and stack clean trays.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, ensuring all areas under furniture and behind doors are cleaned.
Conduct self-inspections after completing cleaning tasks, reviewing steps, and visually checking furniture placement for corrections.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by knocking before entering occupied rooms, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting broken items, working quietly, and maintaining a clean personal appearance.
Report to supervisor if work assignment is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
