About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, focusing on surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, working counter-clockwise around the room, and removing fingerprints and smudges from surfaces.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, wiping down sinks, toilets, and checking/refilling dispensers.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dust or vacuum floors using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, planters, and checking for cobwebs.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, spot clean spills, and clean trash cans.
Remove accumulated dirty trays to the washroom and clean them using a tray power washer.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Conduct self-inspections after completing cleaning tasks, reviewing steps, and visually checking furniture placement for corrections.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting issues to the supervisor, working quietly, and maintaining a clean personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care tasks such as stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
