About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.

Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at the waist, knees, and neck throughout the shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas or retrieving supplies.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment, using tools, cleaning surfaces, and using cleaning equipment.
Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height (e.g., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges).
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, working counter-clockwise, and removing fingerprints and smudges from surfaces like ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, wiping down sinks, toilets (inside and out), and checking/refilling soap and paper dispensers.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dust or vacuum floors, starting at the back of the room and working towards the door, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and checking corners and edges for debris.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying trash cans, cleaning dirty trays, and policing outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Conduct self-inspections after completing cleaning tasks, reviewing steps, and visually checking furniture placement for corrections.
Perform daily cleaning tasks for hallways, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by knocking before entering occupied rooms, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously or referring to others, reporting broken items, working quietly, staying in the assigned area, maintaining a neat appearance, and reporting to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by a supervisor or account manager, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
