About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Good sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination for cleaning tasks and operating equipment.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces and spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilet seats, toilet bowls, soap dispensers, and paper dispensers, refilling as needed.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace with clean liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors using appropriate techniques and equipment, ensuring all areas are covered.
Grounds care: Clean and check outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing parking lots.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting from the back of the room and working towards the exit.
Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously or refer to someone who can, report broken items to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned area, maintain a clean personal appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, and buffing floors.
