About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods.
Operating powered and non-powered equipment.
Lifting/carrying 1 – 30 lbs. equipment, supplies, trash.
Push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Climbing stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes.
Bending/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout shift.
Kneeling/crouching/crawling while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves.
Reaching, handling, grasping and fingering while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment. Overhead reaching required throughout shift.
Sight – in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards. Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot clean windows and walls.
Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and dispensers, refilling as needed.
Empty Trash Cans: Empty trash cans, clean them if necessary, and replace liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms, using appropriate techniques.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, planters, and perform high dusting of window areas.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty trash cans, clean trays, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room.
Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and cheerful to customers, answer questions courteously, report broken items, work quietly, stay in the assigned area, maintain a clean appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet extraction, and auto scrubbing.
