About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling with 5-35 lbs force, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Sufficient sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • High dusting of surfaces above shoulder height using a treated high duster.
  • Sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces below shoulder height with a germicidal solution.
  • Cleaning bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, and refilling them as needed.
  • Emptying trash cans, replacing liners, and cleaning cans if necessary.
  • Dusting or vacuuming floors using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
  • Grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot for trash.
  • Cleaning public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
  • Cleaning, removing trash, and sanitizing tables in the food court, spot cleaning spills, emptying and cleaning trash cans, removing and cleaning dirty trays, and policing outside eating areas.
  • Floor sanitizing using the proper germicidal solution, starting from the back of the room and working towards the exit.
  • Mentally reviewing and visually checking cleaning steps and furniture placement after completing a room.
  • Daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
  • Customer relations and service, including knocking before entering occupied rooms, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting broken items, working quietly, staying in the assigned work area, maintaining a neat appearance, and reporting incomplete work assignments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care tasks like stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
