About The Position

The Civil Craftsman is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining civil structures and infrastructure facilities. The work involves materials such as concrete, steel, and wood and requires knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and safety regulations. The role includes carpentry and formwork tasks on industrial construction projects, as well as miscellaneous construction work. The position functionally reports to the Superintendent and is classified as non-exempt.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as a carpenter on an industrial construction project.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, and drawings.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes used in basic building techniques and form construction.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a full work schedule and additional overtime with little to no notice.
• Willingness to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties when not performing primary craft duties.
• Must pass a drug test and background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Authorization to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship from Norrell Construction is required for U.S. applicants.
• Ability to communicate by talking and hearing.

Responsibilities

• Construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and concrete forms.
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks and recognize safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Measure, mark, and cut wooden or metallic materials to specification.
• Construct, reinforce, and dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Build wooden forms.
• Perform miscellaneous construction projects, including building decks, steps, bulletin boards, and other wooden structures.
• Assist other crafts and perform additional job duties when not performing primary craft duties.
