About The Position

This is a limited full-time, 8-month continuing appointment position, with a work period from approximately September to April each year and an off-work period from May to August each year. The role reports to the Head Cafeteria Helper and involves setting up food counters, serving food, restocking, customer interaction, maintaining cleanliness, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Some formal education and food preparation/service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to lift heavy objects
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
• WHMIS training
• Willing to work a flexible shift schedule

• Food handlers certificate

Responsibilities

• Set up food counters in accordance with departmental specifications
• Serve hot and/or cold foods using appropriate utensils in accordance with prescribed portions and serving techniques
• Restocking counter as required
• Communicating effectively with customers
• Maintaining a clean and orderly counter at all times
• Putting away left over stock
• Cleaning various food service equipment
• Maintaining general cleanliness of dining room
• Other duties as assigned
