About The Position

Performs general repair and maintenance of architectural and structural systems in county buildings. Items such as doors, windows, floors, walls, ceiling stairs, office furniture, shelving, roof repairs and other related work. Safely operates, cleans, maintains and stores a variety of stationery and hand tools, inspects facilities to identify architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing deficiencies, also conducts building safety inspections. Prepares work requests for all necessary architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs and maintenance, coordinates with facility users to correct deficiencies in building systems. This position is designated as Essential Services Personnel. A flexible working schedule is required as well as overtime, call-back, and on-call.

Requirements

  • Completion of the tenth grade.
  • Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program in a specific trade with one year of experience performing building maintenance, repair and/or construction work independently, or two years of varied and responsible full performance-level experience in building maintenance, repair or construction trades.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to climb extension ladder and scaffolds up to 50 ft.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. with assistance of dolly, lift or staff.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend and work in tiring/uncomfortable conditions for extended periods of time.
  • All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years or more of commercial building maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting in commercial buildings.
  • Experience performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting in building maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance principles, practices, materials, and equipment.
  • Bilingual in English and another language.
