About The Position

The NDT Specialist uses combined expertise in Advanced Level II Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods with specialized skills in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and/or Radiographic Testing (RT), including advanced techniques like Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), Guided Wave Ultrasonic Testing (GWT), Eddy Current Testing (ECT), Computed Radiography (CR), Digital Radiography (DR), and Real-Time-Radiography (RTR). The NDT Specialist is responsible for independently performing inspections, interpreting results, and documenting findings to ensure the integrity and safety of structures, materials, and equipment across various industries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of advanced specialty NDT experience, with full documentation of prior classroom training, on-the-job experience, and certification required.
  • SNT Level II certifications in one or more of the following advanced NDT methods is required (PAUT, TOFD, GUL, GWT, RFT, RTR, CR, DR, ET).
  • Valid IRRSP or State Card is required for Radiographers.
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Word and with computers/computerized equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
  • Pre-employment background checks will be required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel may be required for some sites/locations, sometimes with short notice.
  • Ability to work shiftwork may be required for some sites/locations (days, evenings, nights).
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry objects weighing 75lbs. or greater
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, and climb
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, balancing, walking and stooping
  • Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and/or cold
  • Work in and near industrial hazards
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation, basic mathematics, and QA system requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced imaging and analysis software preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable welding codes (e.g., ASME, API, AWS) preferred.
  • Valid TWIC Card and/or knowledge of PIN of TWIC Card may be required for some sites/locations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced NDT inspections using specialized techniques such as PAUT, TOFD, GUL, GWT, RFT, CR, DR, RTR and ECT to identify corrosion and detect flaws, defects, or other discontinuities in material and components without causing damage.
  • Operate and maintain various advanced NDT equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Interpret test data and identify defects according to relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings, including photographic evidence, and maintain accurate documentation of certifications, equipment usage, and inspection results.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards and legal regulations, including alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
  • Communicate processes, procedures, and results to customers effectively.
  • Write or approve procedures for advanced NDT methods as needed.
