About The Position

This position executes complex reconciliations and reporting tasks, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Provides insights through analysis that support operational improvements and financial integrity. The accounting areas covered include monthly accounting close, analysis, disclosures for post-retirement benefits and share-based compensation. Benefit and payroll accounting, including validation and reconciliations. Payments to benefit plan providers for active and retired employees. Financial planning, new product/service implementation, workflow analysis, as assigned. Regulatory proceedings, e.g. General Rate Case and other special filings, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • Ability to assess the accounting impact of non-routine transactions.
  • Ability to collaborate with finance and operational teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting issues clearly and professionally.
  • Knowledge of advanced general accounting principles and month-end close activities.
  • Knowledge of audit requirements and compliance standards affecting general accounting.
  • Skill in independently preparing and reviewing complex account reconciliations.
  • Skill in researching accounting guidance and documenting conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Carefully reviews and compares complex financial records, identifies issues, and applies effective solutions to resolve them.
  • Develops and evaluates long-term financial plans, forecasts, and budgets, offering thoughtful suggestions to support decision-making.
  • Prepares and shares detailed financial reports and summaries, helping leaders understand key financial information.
  • Ensures that all departments follow consistent procedures for processing and labeling expenses, keeping financial records accurate and organized.
  • Works closely with both internal teams and outside reviewers to make sure all financial practices follow company rules, professional standards, and legal guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
