Maryland's new Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program will provide up to 12 weeks of job-protected paid leave for eligible workers to care for themselves or their loved ones in January 2028. Covering 2.6 million workers and 180,000 employers, FAMLI is being built from the ground up as a digitally native, public-facing service-representing a significant modernization of how Maryland delivers benefits. We are currently in the implementation phase of building a services with the reach and complexity of a program like unemployment insurance. The Financial Services Directorate is responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient financial system, including internal controls and financial procedures, for the FAMLI Division. The Financial Services Directorate safeguards FAMLI funds and other assets, manages FAMLI contributions and benefits payouts, develops financial reports, prepares budgets and projections, and designs and conducts internal audits, as well as responding to external financial audits. The General Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role within the Financial Services Directorate and the overall FAMLI Division. The Manager works closely with the leadership of the Financial Services Directorate to establish and administer General Accounting operations. The General Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, reviewing reconciliations and accounting records for the team, overseeing budget process, as well as preparing financial reports to meet regulatory compliance requirements. This position requires the financial acumen to provide insightful recommendations to various stakeholders and contribute to the overall fiscal health and operational success of FAMLI.
