About The Position

The Hotel General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring daily accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and hotel policies, and supporting the overall financial management of the hotel. The role assists accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger transactions, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience with hotel accounting systems (Opera, SunSystems, Sage, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and revenue accounting.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor guest and corporate account balances.
  • Reconcile city ledger and guest ledger accounts.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review credit applications and maintain customer credit files.
  • Verify invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation.
  • Process vendor payments according to company policies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve payment issues.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, local regulations, and tax requirements.
  • Assist internal and external auditors during audits.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing systems.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate finance policies and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Purchasing, and other departments.
  • Review daily revenue reports and verify revenue postings.
  • Support revenue audits and financial analysis.
