Headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, the company is family-owned and operated. Beyond its core publishing business, the company also maintains investments, primarily in real estate. The Real Estate Accountant will perform all necessary bookkeeping activities for multiple entities, including but not limited to: maintaining records, bank accounts, paying bills, making deposits, accounting transactions, reporting, tax preparation, documenting procedures, and performing other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field preferred
  • 5-10 years of accounting experience in the real estate industry, family office, or related experience
  • Advanced computer skills, including knowledge of QuickBooks and MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to demonstrate professionalism, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with short-term and long-term budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong analytical mind, ability to understand complex matters, and present recommendations in a clear manner
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional groups
  • Experience presenting to management with confidence and precision
  • Experience working in a matrix organizational structure with dotted line reporting
  • Proven ability to manage a multi-property portfolio (10–20 properties) across mixed commercial and residential assets
  • Direct experience collaborating with C-suite executives
  • Proficiency with presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote, or similar)

Responsibilities

  • All bookkeeping duties for the owners' back office real estate investments
  • Maintain bank accounts and reconciliations for each entity
  • Manage various projects and communication with third parties
  • Process and pay monthly bills, including checks and electronic payments
  • Monthly Close for accounts and reporting package – P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.
  • Quarterly and Annual analysis, summary, and presentation
  • Tax Preparation and payments for each entity
  • Monitor cash flow for each entity and communicate designated requirements
  • Create quarterly projections to share and review with the external CPA firm
  • Work on various other tasks as required
