About The Position

The BRIDGE seeks a compassionate, inspiring part-time GED Instructor to help young adults ages 18–30 earn their GED and pursue educational and career success. The instructor teaches academic subjects while encouraging perseverance, building confidence, and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. The role involves creating an engaging learning environment and helping students develop the knowledge and skills to earn their GED and pursue future education or employment.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, for 25 hours per week.

Requirements

• Knowledge of GED curriculum and adult education best practices.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and engage diverse learners.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience using educational technology.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Experience teaching, tutoring, or working with adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide GED instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies.
• Develop lesson plans and learning activities aligned with GED standards.
• Assess student skill levels and monitor academic progress.
• Provide individualized tutoring, coaching, and academic support.
• Maintain attendance, progress reports, and other required documentation.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and encouraging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with program staff to support student success and retention.
• Prepare students for GED testing and future education or employment opportunities.
