About The Position

The GEAR UP Tutor provides an enriched learning environment that helps students develop subject knowledge and skills and supports their intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. The tutor conducts individual or group sessions in qualified content areas and may tutor in various elective courses. The role maintains tutor and student contact paperwork and daily and weekly tutoring logs. The position is part-time for the 2026–2027 school year and is based at Northridge High School. It reports to the GEAR UP Coordinator. Regular attendance is required. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may change with or without notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
• Visual, auditory, and ambulatory ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Conflict management skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Empathetic and able to build positive relationships.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
• Regular attendance is required.
