About The Position

Wonderful College Prep Academy is seeking a part-time tutor for the GEAR UP program at Sanger West High School. This role will focus on supporting seniors with Math and ELA, primarily during lunch periods and/or class times. The position is an in-person, one-year contract role, reporting to the GEAR UP Manager. The GEAR UP program is a federally funded Title III Grant aimed at increasing the number of low-income students prepared for and successful in postsecondary education.

Requirements

College graduate or enrolled in college with completed freshman English and college math (Algebra II).
At least one year of tutoring experience.
Eager, flexible learner and problem solver comfortable taking initiative.
Self-starter with an exceptional work ethic and ability to work independently.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with scholars.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

Provide Math and ELA tutoring services to students individually or in small groups within classrooms.
Collaborate with and support GEAR UP staff, including assisting with field trips, family workshops, and contacting families.
Assist seniors with reviewing scholarship and college essays.
Provide various academic support services to students, such as tutoring and assisting with forms and workshops.
Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementation of GEAR UP grant activities.
Follow school and GEAR UP protocols and procedures.
Perform related duties as assigned.
