Gear Machinist III – Gleason Experience
About The Position
The Gear Machinist III will set up and operate Gleason gear-manufacturing equipment and support production of bevel and hypoid gear sets. The facility manufactures bevel, hypoid, worm and planetary gears using traditional mechanical equipment and modern CNC technology. The role is intended for a machinist with hands-on Gleason experience who wants to advance toward becoming a gear-manufacturing specialist. The successful candidate will receive hands-on development with modern and traditional Gleason equipment, advanced gear inspection, CNC processes and multiple gear families. Development may include progressing toward advanced setup, programming and troubleshooting of the Gleason Phoenix 280C. Pay is based on experience and skill; relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience operating Gleason gear equipment.
- Understanding of bevel and hypoid gear fundamentals.
- CNC or conventional machine setup experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Understanding of runout, concentricity and close-tolerance machining.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Willingness to continue education and complete advanced training.
- Dependable attendance and commitment to safe, quality-focused work.

- Mechanical Gleason setup experience.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Gleason gear-manufacturing equipment.
- Support production of bevel and hypoid gear sets.
- Make machine, tooling and workholding adjustments.
- Inspect gears and verify conformance to specifications.
- Evaluate backlash and tooth-contact patterns.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining or gear-quality problems.
- Maintain accurate setup and production records.
- Work with experienced team members to improve quality and productivity.
- Expand knowledge of worm, planetary and CNC gear manufacturing.
- Progress toward advanced Phoenix 280C setup, programming and troubleshooting.
