About The Position

Atlanta Gear Works is looking for a CNC Machinist with experience in gear grinding or hobbing to join their skilled team. This position is for a machinist, not an operator. The company is a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries.

Requirements

At least 3 years of prior gearing/hobbing experience.
Experience in programming.
Ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of three years experience in this field.
Experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.
Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must undergo pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Technical school is a plus.

Responsibilities

Machine parts from mechanical drawings.
CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations.
Experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Ability to make simple math calculations.
