About The Position

Peak Design is opening its first store in Colorado and is seeking a Gear Expert (Retail Associate) to welcome customers, share product knowledge, and foster a sense of community. This role goes beyond a typical retail job, offering a unique environment where customers can explore gear, interact with the team, and learn about the brand. The staff act as hosts, product experts, educators, and instructors, engaging with visitors, advising on product solutions, and sharing life experiences. This is a part-time position at the new Colorado shop.

Requirements

Expert users of Peak Design gear or individuals with a genuine interest in quickly developing this knowledge.
Employees who will take pride in making the store a clean, friendly, and inviting place.
Creatives and adventurers (hobbyists or professionals) who can engage with passionate customers and understand their needs.
Enjoy hosting, educating, and enthralling others, and are good listeners.
Demonstrated community involvement (e.g., attending Meetups, joining clubs, making connections).
Experience in a customer-facing role, such as retail or hospitality.
Personal or professional interest in or experience with products in the industry.
Physical requirements: Constantly in a stationary position for prolonged periods (8+ hours); frequently moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions; frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like.

Responsibilities

Greet and determine the needs of every customer.
Explain product uses and how they fit into the Peak Design ecosystem.
Handle product returns, warranty claims, and customer concerns.
Provide product support in-person and over the phone.
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Internalize and provide customer feedback to the store manager.
Contribute ideas for making the store more inviting, inclusive, and dynamic.
Maintain an immaculate store environment, including merchandising and stock areas.
Ensure the stock area is clean and well-organized.
