About The Position

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac on a full-time basis. The Technical Operations Specialist (TOS) will be responsible for leading the maintenance activities for Gear Center and E Motor product development and ultra-low volume production equipment in the Artisan Innovation Center-Global Propulsion Systems. Candidate must be able to function in a manufacturing maintenance team culture and work independently under general direction of a supervisor. Work involves a considerable amount of perception and intuition, in order to make decisions.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or Four-Year Apprenticeship required or equivalent experience with one of the following: Electrical Journeyman’s license or Mechanical Journeyman’s license with minimum 5+ years of experience as maintenance mechanical or electrician technician.
  • Familiarity with high volume automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of advanced mechanical / electrical concepts.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and construction standards and codes, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • General knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems to include basic electricity and electronics, controls and instrumentation, mechanical drives and power transmission systems, fluid power and pneumatics.
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance principles and blueprint reading/schematics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for effective communication.
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills to resolve unusual and difficult problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens Controllers.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and solve controls related hardware and software issues.
  • Operate industrial mobile equipment.
  • Working knowledge of MAXIMO maintenance management system.

Responsibilities

  • Be the “hands-on” technical operational specialist, with both mechanical and electrical responsibilities to assure the reliability of all production equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and problem solving the following electrical / mechanical equipment in assigned area: Conveyors & related equipment, Automated equipment, Tooling & fixtures, Electrical equipment used in the manufacturing process, Vision systems, Lubrication on all systems.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities per schedule.
  • Organize, plan and execute maintenance and process projects to include process system upgrades and new installations, design, build & debug as required.
  • Support 1st shift Operations with ability to support weekend and off shift needs as required.
  • Responsible for the planning, scheduling, documenting and execution of all maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic) expertise to the business unit team to assist in creating and implementing the best solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Continually increase technical knowledge to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of equipment.
  • Support global manufacturing systems (GMS) compliance, business plan deployment (BPD), and global best practices.
  • Participate and lead lean initiatives, such as continuous improvement events, as well as identifying and eliminating waste.
  • Comply with company safety requirements and procedures.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance MAXIMO utilization, improving asset performance through better work order management, downtime tracking, spare‑parts control, and preventive maintenance planning.
