Gateway Fleet Specialist

SpaceXRedmond, WA
Onsite

About The Position

Starlink is building the world’s largest fleet of satellite ground stations. These gateways are the critical link between our satellites and the global internet backbone, and their reliability directly determines the quality of service for millions of users. We are seeking fleet specialists to own the reliability, growth, and sustainment of our fleet of Gateway antennas and sites across a region of the world. This is a true owner-operator role, managing everything from technical troubleshooting and spare parts strategy to international logistics, contractor performance, and field execution. This role is ideal for someone who excels at building operational excellence in fast-moving and internationally complex environments. You must be equally comfortable managing heavy equipment deployments in remote locations as you are negotiating with customs authorities and coaching contractors toward higher performance standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of experience operations, logistics, technical support, field service, data analytics, project management, or a similar role involving distributed assets

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a customer support associate, technical support associate, quality specialist, process planner, business analyst, or leadership role
  • Hands on experience with satellite ground stations, antennas; electrical, fiber optic, radiofrequency, or mechanical systems
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed technical equipment or infrastructure
  • Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL and/or other data visualization tools
  • Background in root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams
  • Experience managing contractors or third-party vendors, particularly in international or remote environments
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and spare parts/inventory management
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages (in addition to English): Portuguese, French, Punjabi, Hindi, Japanese, Bengali, Kazakh, Arabic, Urdu, Vietnamese, Swahili, Sesotho, Swati, Tagalog.
  • Knowledge of local business culture is a plus
  • Experience troubleshooting or working with IT/network infrastructure (UPS, PDUs, servers, or networking equipment)
  • Demonstrated ability to design efficient processes and systems, especially defining requirements for software tools
  • Experience autonomously managing projects with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Own the maintenance, operations, health, and growth for our fleet of Starlink Gateway Antennas and Sites for a region of the world
  • Manage spare parts strategy, inventory planning, and materials movement across the region, to maintain rapid response readiness for both planned and emergency maintenance
  • Monitor fleet health using dashboards and telemetry data to identify issues, diagnose software and hardware failures, drive timely repairs, and identify emerging degradation trends.
  • Partner with engineering teams to execute fleetwide campaigns and perform root cause analysis on antenna and site failures across electrical, fiber optic, radiofrequency, and mechanical systems
  • Coordinate with logistics providers, customs authorities, and regional partners to ensure timely and compliant international shipping of critical parts and equipment
  • Manage relationships with contracted labor in the region, including training and capability development
  • Analyze operational data and field feedback to identify systemic pain points and drive improvements in processes and tools
  • Share ownership of the team’s growth: work with engineers and specialists to build scalable organizational structures that can support the rapid expansion of the world’s largest fleet of satellite ground stations.
