The Division of Digestive and Liver Health delivers integrated outpatient and inpatient consultative care. Denver Health’s state-of-the-art Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) opened in 2021 and houses the Endoscopy Lab which now averages over 120 general GI procedures per week. The OMC is also the location for our gastroenterology and hepatology clinics which complete over 300 visits per month. The inpatient service, comprised of a faculty attending, one of our 15 University of Colorado GI fellows, and frequently a medicine resident, medical student, or a Physician’s Assistant student, provides consultations and performs procedures for patients on the medicine and surgery wards and in the ICUs. Our interventional endoscopist performs all advanced procedures for both inpatients and outpatients. Denver Health is an integrated academic health care system, including nine community health centers and a Level I 525-licensed bed hospital, that is considered a model for the nation. Denver Health delivers care to over 200,000 unique patients, 60% who are from diverse and varied backgrounds speaking over 23 different languages, most commonly Spanish. The Denver Health system also includes the Rocky Mountain Regional Level I Trauma Center, Denver’s 911 emergency medical response system, 15 school-based health centers, the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center, the Denver Public Health Department, and the Denver Health Lean Academy. As Colorado’s primary safety net institution, Denver Health is a mission-driven organization that has provided more than $3.3 billion in care for the uninsured in the last ten years.
