Gastroenterology NP/PA - Hospitalist
About The Position
Prime Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our inpatient gastroenterology team at Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. This hospital-based position offers a desirable 7-on/7-off schedule, providing an excellent work-life balance while delivering high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions. The APP will work collaboratively with gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams to manage inpatient consults, coordinate care, and support a growing GI service line within a physician-led healthcare system.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Current or eligible state licensure
- Minimum of one year of Gastroenterology, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, or related inpatient experience preferred
- Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
Responsibilities
- Conduct inpatient GI consultations and follow-up evaluations
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as appropriate
- Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies and laboratory results
- Coordinate procedures, transitions of care, and discharge planning
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
