About The Position

Central Maine Medical Center, a Prime Healthcare affiliated hospital, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established and expanding Digestive Health program in Lewiston, Maine. This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive gastroenterology in a collaborative hospital-based environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency
• Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Eligible for or active Maine medical license
• DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS certification

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, radiology, and primary care teams
• Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and patient safety initiatives
• Maintain timely and accurate electronic medical record documentation
• Adhere to medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, Biopsy and polypectomy, Hemostasis and dilation, PEG placement
• Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal conditions including: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Liver disease and hepatitis, Pancreatic disorders, Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Participate in a shared call schedule
