About The Position
We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for a Locum Tenens position in Washington, DC. This is an outpatient role focusing on clinical duties only, covering supplemental needs. The coverage period is ASAP and ongoing, with a Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM shift schedule. The position requires performing GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, and providing outpatient consultations and follow-up care. The facility utilizes the Epic EMR system, and hospital privileges are required. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Licensed in DC, MD or Universal License (IMLC)
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Hospital Privileges Required
Nice To Haves
- Experience with GI procedures (Upper endoscopy, Colonoscopy)
- Experience with Small Bowel biopsy
- Experience with Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible)
- Experience with Colonoscopy (with biopsy, with excision of polyp)
- Experience with Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, with foreign body removal, with fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser))
Responsibilities
- Perform upper endoscopy procedures (30 minutes per case)
- Perform colonoscopy procedures (30 minutes per case)
- Perform combined upper endoscopy and colonoscopy (60 minutes per case)
- Administer moderate sedation for endoscopic procedures
- Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care
