About The Position

We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for a Locum Tenens position in Lexington, KY. This is an inpatient, call-only role within a hospital setting, providing 24-hour call coverage. The coverage period is ASAP and ongoing, with a specific initial period from May 26, 2026, to May 1, 2026. The role involves managing typical adult GI inpatient populations, handling approximately 10-20 patients per day, with around 10 admissions per night. Responsibilities include rounding, managing "bread and butter" inpatient GI cases, ED consults, inpatient consults, and performing ERCP cases. The facility utilizes the Epic EMR system and has a dedicated support staff of 3 inpatient APPs for GI. This position is to supplement existing coverage.

Requirements

• KY License (highly preferred) or IMLC
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• DEA Required
• ACLS Certification
• Must be able to perform ERCP
• Clean malpractice history preferred
• NPDB required
• Hospital Privileges Required

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour GI call coverage
• Manage inpatient GI consults and ED consults
• Perform inpatient GI procedures including ERCP and endoscopy
• Conduct daily rounding on assigned patients
• Collaborate with APP team and hospital staff in patient management
