About The Position
We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for a Locum Tenens position in Fredericksburg, VA. This is an inpatient role covering clinical services only. The coverage period is from September 28, 2026, ongoing, with a shift schedule of Monday-Friday, 7 am-5 pm, for two weeks per month. This position is to supplement existing coverage. The facility has 400 beds, with 6 beds in the Gastroenterology department. The EMR system used is Epic. There are currently 2 physicians in practice (1 Fellow, 1 Resident). Support staff includes 1 RN, 1 MA, 2 PAs/NPs, and 1 Office Staff. The role requires supervision of APPs.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Licensed in Virginia.
- BLS certification required.
- Fellowship in Gastroenterology required.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations.
- Manage new consults and follow-up patients.
- Perform procedures.
- Admit patients.
- Round on patients.
- Supervise APPs.
