About The Position

System Medical Group seeks a Gastroenterologist. The successful candidate/candidates will be expected to practice in the primary location of Colliers Way Professional Plaza- 701 Colliers Way Weirton, WV. Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia’s first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children’s Hospital in September 2022. Today, the WVU Health System has more than 2,400 licensed beds, 3,900 providers, and nearly 30,000 employees. Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes more than 24 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
• Eligible for state medical license.
• Completed an accredited internal medicine residency program.
• Completed a gastroenterology fellowship.
• Board eligible/board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Practice in the primary location of Colliers Way Professional Plaza- 701 Colliers Way Weirton, WV.
• Provide a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Treat a medically diverse population.
• Handle clinically challenging cases.
• Provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, which may involve travel.
