About The Position

PROENERGY is seeking an experienced Gas Turbine Rotor Design Engineer who will be focused on the mechanical design, analysis and the drawing release of rotor assembly and components in gas turbines. The successful candidate will perform risk assessments via hand calculations or analysis to identify any concerns of releasing the parts into production prior to a formal design review. The individual must have a thorough understanding of compressor and turbine rotor design, materials utilized, manufacturing processes and the ability to apply this knowledge. This role requires cross functional collaboration including Materials and Processes, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant Turbomachinery experience and 3-5 years of gas turbine rotor design with manufacturing experience
  • Experience with structural, vibration, and thermal analysis for rotating parts components
  • In-depth knowledge with GD&T and mechanical drawings
  • Experience in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) for component design and modeling
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS,) and hand calculation for structural, vibration, and thermal analysis
  • Knowledge of high-temperature materials, coatings, and various manufacturing processes used in gas turbine rotating parts components.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop innovative design solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to balance the need for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, ASME, or aerospace-specific regulations (e.g., AMS, ASTM) is highly desirable.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner.
  • Proficient in the use of various MS Office Suite programs.
  • Familiarity with gas turbine performance, aerodynamic principles, and material selection for gas turbine systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the mechanical design, analysis or evaluation of rotating gas turbine parts for aeroderivative turbines (disks, blisks, spools, shafts, etc.).
  • Lead third party design consultants for detailed design of gas turbine parts
  • Develops specialized knowledge in their discipline (mechanical rotating design).
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource.
  • Work with Materials and Processes, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality during manufacturing processes of gas turbine subsystems and/or parts
