Summary The Gas Turbine Generator Product Manager is responsible for leading the global strategy, development, and execution of generator products and services. Combine deep technical expertise in generator technology, capability enhancement, restoration, and 50Hz/60Hz conversion with strong leadership in supply chain, service business growth, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Eight years of experience in power generation, with strong focus on generators or rotating equipment.
  • Experience in generator technology, restoration, upgrades, and retrofit programs.
  • Experience with 50Hz and 60Hz systems and conversion projects.
  • Strong background in supply chain, sourcing, and operations.
  • Experience building or growing a service/aftermarket business.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management Define and execute global product strategy for generator upgrades, restorations, and frequency conversion solutions. Manage full product lifecycle, including new product introduction, enhancements, and obsolescence planning. Conduct market and competitive analysis to position offerings for growth and differentiation.
  • Technology & Capability Leadership Lead development of advanced generator technologies, including uprates, efficiency improvements, and reliability enhancements. Define generator capability limits (thermal, electrical, mechanical) and develop solutions to safely extend performance envelopes. Collaborate with engineering on innovations in insulation systems, rotor/stator design, cooling technologies, and digital solutions.
  • Restoration, Life Extension & Conversion Solutions Develop and standardize restoration programs (rewinds, rotor refurbishments, insulation upgrades) for aging fleets. Lead lifecycle extension strategies balancing cost, performance, and risk. Own development and execution of 50Hz ↔ 60Hz conversion solutions, including feasibility, risk assessment, and implementation. Support diagnostics, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Service Business Development & Growth Build and scale a high-margin generator service business, including upgrades, field services, and long-term service agreements (LTSAs). Define service offerings, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies. Partner with sales to expand installed base penetration and drive aftermarket revenue growth. Develop standardized service packages and global execution models.
  • Commercial Leadership Own commercial strategy, including pricing, margin expansion, and contract structuring. Develop winning proposals, technical solutions, and business cases (ROI, payback, lifecycle value). Lead or support customer negotiations with strong technical and financial positioning. Align product offerings with customer needs and market demand.
  • Supply Chain Management Lead supply chain strategy for generator components and services, ensuring cost competitiveness, quality, and delivery reliability. Develop supplier partnerships, qualification processes, and risk mitigation strategies. Drive cost reduction through should-cost analysis, design optimization, and sourcing strategies. Manage risks related to long-lead materials, logistics, and global supply constraints.
  • Operational Excellence (Quality, Cost, Delivery) Establish and drive operational performance metrics across product and service lines (quality, cost, delivery, safety). Ensure high standards of operational quality through robust processes, inspections, and continuous improvement. Oversee delivery performance, including on-time execution of projects, outages, and field services. Partner with manufacturing and field operations to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and eliminate defects. Implement lessons learned and best practices across global operations.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership Serve as the central point of coordination between engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, field service, and commercial teams. Lead cross-functional initiatives to deliver integrated solutions on time and within budget. Provide leadership, training, and technical guidance across global teams.
  • Financial Ownership & Performance Management Own product line and service P&L, including revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost control. Track KPIs related to operational performance, customer satisfaction, and financial outcomes. Drive continuous improvement across technical, commercial, and operational domains.
