Position Summary The Gas Turbine Auxiliary System Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and technical support of auxiliary systems associated with gas turbine power plants. This role supports engineering, production, project execution, field services, and operations to ensure auxiliary systems are engineered to meet performance, code compliance, reliability, safety, and commissioning requirements. The role interfaces with multi-disciplinary teams including production, project engineering, procurement, quality, field service and suppliers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience in power generation/industrial engineering with specific experience in gas turbine auxiliary systems design or support.
  • Proficiency in P&ID development, component sizing, and system performance analysis.
  • Strong technical knowledge of auxiliary systems such as lubrication, hydraulic units, fuel gas conditioning, air systems, and instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical communication skills to interface with internal teams and customers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple internal teams and departments, as well as with external vendors and customers.
  • Results focus with accountability for project deliverables.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical experience with aeroderivative turbines (e.g., LM6000, LM2500) is highly desirable.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Discipline.
  • Certification(s) relevant to power plant or turbine engineering (API, ASME, or equivalent).
  • Experience of OEM auxiliary system reference designs (e.g., Siemens, GE, Mitsubishi) and associated standards/codes.
  • Familiarity with CSA, CE Marking, and Australian regulatory and code requirements.
  • Prior exposure to OEM turbine auxiliary training or turbine fleet service programs.
  • Experience with engineering software and tools such as Inventor, Windchill, Solidwork PDM, ANSYS, Asana, Bluebeam, and engineering calculation tools is a plus.
  • Flexibility to travel for field support and customer engagements as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and functional development of gas turbine auxiliary systems, including but not limited to: Fuel gas systems (piping, filters, valves, etc.), Lube oil and hydraulic systems, Fire protection, ventilation, and enclosure systems, Skid-mounted packages, heating & cooling systems and pumping arrangements., Instrumentation and heat tracing systems (Pressure Transmitter, Flow Transmitters, RTD, etc.)
  • Produce and maintain engineering deliverables including: Flow & Instrumentation Diagrams (F&IDs), General Arrangement (GAs), Production drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs), Design calculations and functional design criteria, Technical specifications for procurement, Engineering working Instruction for production and field team
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, international codes, and customer requirements including: ASME, ANSI, API and NFPA, IBC, ACSE, NBC, OSHA and ISO, CSA/CRN, CE
  • Support ProEnergy’s internal fabrication and assembly operations by producing, reviewing, and maintaining fabrication drawings, including weld details, material specifications, tolerances, and performing stress analysis (FEA) as required.
  • Develop and release assembly drawings and instructions defining fasteners, bolting requirements, torque values, assembly sequences, and inspection requirements to support efficient shop execution.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, manufacturing, and quality teams to review and redline fabrication, assembly, and project drawings to ensure constructability, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide engineering support by dispositioning Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), evaluating deviations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive product improvements and cost-reduction initiatives by identifying design simplifications, alternate materials, and improved fabrication or assembly methods.
  • Partner with procurement and suppliers to source components, resolve technical issues, and ensure materials and parts are available to support shop production schedules and meet project requirement.
  • Lead in design reviews, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and lessons-learned to enhance product quality and manufacturability.
  • Participate in proposal development, technical bid reviews, and cost/manhour estimates.
  • Coordinate design interfaces with internal engineering disciplines and external partners to ensure on-time delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Support procurement through detailed specifications for auxiliary system and assemblies.
  • Resolve field issues and support root cause analysis (RCA) with field services teams and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability of auxiliary functions.
  • Provide installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support onsite or remotely (where applicable).
