About The Position

The Gas Station/Retail Cashier provides customers with assistance and excellent guest service while maintaining a consistent image and comfortable shopping environment. Duties are performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. The role includes customer transactions and support, merchandise replenishment and presentation, inventory assistance, housekeeping, and cash handling.

Requirements

Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Previous cash handling experience required.
Basic math, reading, and writing ability.
Excellent guest service and hospitality skills.
Strong problem-solving and listening skills.
Self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.
Ability to push and pull heavy items and equipment.
Ability to perform activities including constant standing and walking, and frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking is permitted.
Ability to multitask several activities and duties simultaneously and to function independently.
Ability to work well with people in a team environment and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines.
Ability to work indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Six or more months of prior relevant experience in a similar position preferred.
Bilingual abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, ring sales on the register, provide correct change and sales receipts, and bag merchandise.
Answer phones promptly and courteously within three rings and take accurate messages when necessary.
Maintain floor and customer service standards and use selling skills.
Fold and hang merchandise and replenish stock, including cigarettes, cigars, sundries, magazines, newspapers, candy, gum, chips, and sodas.
Maintain stock on racks, shelves, glass cases, and armoires.
Direct customer requests to the Selling Supervisor and/or Assistant Store Manager.
Assist with physical inventory or cycle counts, including counting and performing inventory.
Perform shift housekeeping duties to keep the sales floor tidy.
Follow cash handling procedures, including counting cash, checks, charges, and comps, and completing settlement cards and envelopes.
Record information on the cashier report and return the drawer to the Satellite Cage.
Perform other job-related duties as requested.
