About The Position

Gas Station Attendants help operate the fuel station and provide friendly, attentive customer service while maintaining a safe and clean environment. They direct vehicle traffic, assist customers with fueling and basic vehicle checks, ensure pumps are functioning properly, monitor fuel inventory, perform routine cleaning and maintenance, and report safety hazards or operational issues to management. The role requires following safety procedures for fuel and hazardous materials and working in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council. This is a regular, part-time position working less than 29 hours per week. Work schedules may be adjusted to meet business needs. The position requires availability for flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, and work after normal business hours. Pre-employment drug testing and a background check are required, as is random drug testing during employment. There are no supervisory duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior gas station or cashier experience preferred.
Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; work may also include irregular hours and hours after normal business hours.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small groups.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift heavy objects, including fuel hoses and cleaning equipment; the stated physical demands include regularly exerting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds, and on some occasions lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write correspondence; perform basic arithmetic and make change using American currency and units; and apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagram instructions.
Dependability, integrity, self-control, adaptability, and cooperation.
Ability to comply with safety protocols and report accidents immediately.
Ability to pass required pre-employment drug testing and background checks and to undergo random drug testing during employment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of basic car maintenance and fuel-station tasks, including checking fuel levels, cleaning fuel pumps, and fueling vehicles.
Prior gas station or cashier experience.

Responsibilities

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Guide vehicles to appropriate pumps and direct station traffic to maintain smooth flow.
Assist customers with fueling and provide prompt service to elderly or disabled customers and others with special needs.
Check fuel levels, clean fuel pumps, replenish supplies, and perform routine station inspections and maintenance.
Monitor fuel inventory and coordinate refill orders with management.
Maintain clean and organized station premises, including sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash bins.
Follow safety regulations and procedures when handling and storing fuel and flammable materials; monitor pumps and report hazards or accidents.
Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and issues, escalating them to management as needed.
Follow posted work schedules and communicate with supervisors regarding schedule changes or workplace concerns.
Comply with company image standards, meal and rest break policies, uniform requirements, and timekeeping procedures.
Verify valid identification for age-restricted sales and follow applicable federal and state regulations.
Notify management of sales, cash, or operating discrepancies and problems.
Perform other assigned duties commensurate with the position’s functions and level.
