About The Position

The Gas Service Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining gas meters, regulators, gas lines, and gas appliances. The work includes testing for gas leaks and servicing equipment and systems such as boilers, ovens, gas fireplaces, gas-fired refrigerators, and hydronic heating systems. The technician installs and connects appliances to gas, water, and electrical supplies.

This is a union-represented position in the Gas Meter Service department, based in Brockton, Massachusetts, with rotating shifts. The role may also require responding to emergency situations and assisting during emergency restoration outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location. Eversource will not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

• Must pass the EEI CAST Test.
• Must satisfactorily complete a written mathematical test.
• Must pass a pre-employment/pre-placement drug test in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be physically capable of walking long distances while carrying gas equipment and tools.
• Must have 2 years of related mechanical experience.
• Must have a history of safe working habits.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational, mechanical, or plumbing training is highly preferred.
• Gas utility experience is preferred.
