Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of work experience related to the design and maintenance of electronic, mechanical and pneumatic industrial instrumentation & controls, or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate computers or associated software
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to meet company driving standards, including a valid driving license
  • Ability to carry equipment weighing 60 lbs.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Technical Occupations Test Battery.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately with the English language.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature, and flow measurement instrumentation.
  • Familiarization with PLC logic programming and I O devices.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic control systems, control valves, and actuators.
  • Experience using calibration test equipment to perform preventative corrective maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains gas distribution system and production plant monitoring, control and measurement equipment.
  • Conducts/assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas automation control schemes, remote terminal units (RTU's), programmable logic controllers (PLC' s), gas chromatographs, gas odorant equipment, and pressure, temperature, level and flow transmitters, switches and indicators.
  • Conducts/assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of portable gas detector instruments (GMI's) and Gas delivery unit depots (GDU's) for Gas Distribution system personnel.
  • Performs maintenance tasks including logic programming, network configuration, system expansion, and addition of new I/O devices, installation of new software or hardware, and communication interfaces.
  • Conducts/assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pneumatic control systems, control valves, actuators, and various forms of regulation control devices; including Jordans pilot drives, remote-set regulators, and digital valve controllers.
  • Establishes close liaison with other units, sections, departments, and gas suppliers involved in the operations and maintenance of gas distribution system and production facilities.
  • Conducts/assists with scheduled inspection, tests, and calibrations of gas custody transfer metering, including working with natural gas supplier technicians to ensure gas measurement equipment accuracy.
  • Interfaces with operations personnel, engineering groups and hardware and/or software vendors.
  • Supports projects involving control systems and associated instrumentation with tasks including: installation of control cabinets, equipment procurement, and installation of transmitters, RTU's, PLC's, I/O cabinets I/O cards, cable, conduit and tubing installation, in compliance with all applicable codes.
  • Documents preventative and corrective maintenance through corporate Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Responds to gas distribution system and production plant equipment problems; performs analysis to determine operability or need for repairs and advises supervision of unusual events.
  • Repairs and troubleshoots gas distribution communication structure with internal and external communication network providers.
  • Field work may include work on customer premises.
  • Subject to overtime, call-in, or required to respond on short notice to operational emergencies.
  • Maintain Production Plant Gas and Fire Detection System (EQP).
  • Must meet operator qualification standards as required under Dept. of Transportation CFR 49-192, 193 and the LMS Training profile.
  • Subject to U.S. Dept. of Transportation required drug and alcohol screening.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain company driving standards.
  • Must notify the company of changes impacting ability to drive.
  • This position is considered a “safety sensitive” function and may be subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.
