About The Position

ASR International has an exciting upcoming opportunity for an on-call Gas Analyzer Systems Technician assignment in Fitchburg, WI at the Thermo Fisher Scientific facility. This role involves installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex analytical equipment used in industrial plants, ensuring gas measurement systems operate reliably, meet safety standards, and comply with strict environmental regulations. The technician will perform regular calibration, testing, and preventive/corrective maintenance on process analyzers, diagnose and repair hardware, software, and mechanical malfunctions, and maintain accurate logs and documentation. They will also follow plant safety procedures, interpret technical drawings for system modifications, and work in industries such as oil and gas refineries, petrochemical processing plants, power generation, and advanced manufacturing. On-call availability for off-hour call-ins, holidays, or emergency turnarounds is required, along with preparing detailed reports.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of gas analysis technologies, such as Gas Chromatography (GC), NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared), and paramagnetic oxygen theory.
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment (multimeters, flow meters, calibration gases) to diagnose both electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), chromatography software, and standard data acquisition programs.
  • An Associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronics Technology, or related equivalent military/trade training is highly preferred.
  • Resume and candidacy subject to customer approval and acceptance and clearing of the required background check.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots complex analytical equipment used in industrial plants.
  • Ensures gas measurement systems operate reliably, meet safety standards, and comply with strict environmental regulations.
  • Regularly calibrate, test, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process analyzers (e.g., Gas Chromatographs, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems).
  • Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and mechanical malfunctions in sensors, probes, and sample handling systems to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and documentation to satisfy local, state, and federal environmental or safety mandates.
  • Strictly follow plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
  • Read and interpret technical drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams, schematics) to install or upgrade analytical systems.
  • Respond to off-hour call-ins, holidays, or emergency turnarounds.
  • Review relevant documents and prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
